Retreat
Attendees: Wendy,
Leslie, Anna and Suzanna
Country: Philippines
I waited patiently for the Lord; and He
inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He
has put a new song in my mouth - praise to our God; many will see it and fear,
and will trust in the Lord. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of
righteousness for His name's sake (Psalm 40:1-3; 23:3).
We ask that Your comfort be felt in tangible ways when the women experience loneliness, depression and grief. So often while serving overseas one has to grieve losses long-distance. When news of a loved one's sickness, struggles or death occurs, the missionary woman can feel trapped and helpless with a gut-wrenching pain that those around her may not be able to empathize with.
Now that they are back in the States, they may have the need to grieve these losses with their families, but may find that their families have already moved past that stage. This may be an additional source of frustration, pain and confusion. There are times when the losses can be multiple (i.e. death of mom, grandmother, close friend). Processing these can be a lonely, long road. We pray on their behalf for Your comfort. In Jesus name, Amen.
